Tonbara Sports Signs Werder Bremen III Midfielder Brendan Schoemehl

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Two-time First Team All-ASUN joins agency while playing in Germany

TORONTO / BREMEN — Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of Brendan Schoemehl, a midfielder currently playing for Werder Bremen III in Germany's Bremenliga.

Schoemehl, a 6-1 midfielder from St. Louis, Missouri, joins Werder Bremen III after a decorated five-year career at Bellarmine University. He was named First Team All-ASUN twice (2023, 2025), earned United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Atlantic Region honours, and helped Bellarmine win its first-ever Division I regular-season conference title as ASUN Gold Division champions.

A true two-way midfielder, Schoemehl led Bellarmine in points (13), goals (six), shots (26), and shots on goal (14) during his standout 2023 campaign. His signature moment came in the ASUN Tournament semifinals against Stetson, when he scored a game-tying goal in the 84th minute and then converted the game-winning penalty kick in double overtime, sending the Knights to the championship game.

After a season-ending injury limited him to three games in 2024, Schoemehl returned strong in 2025. He ranked second on the team in assists and third in points, earned ASUN co-Player of the Week honours, and was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week.

Off the field, Schoemehl was named to the Academic All-ASUN Team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, and he received United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region honours. He is a Psychology major.

Before attending college, Schoemehl was a team captain and state champion at De Smet Jesuit High School in Missouri. He earned First Team All-State honours twice (2019, 2020), was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Central Team, and was an All-American nominee. He developed through the Saint Louis Scott Gallagher Academy.

Werder Bremen III competes in the Bremenliga, the fifth tier of the German football pyramid. The club is part of the storied SV Werder Bremen organization, one of the most successful clubs in German football history.

"Brendan is a complete midfielder who has already made the leap to professional soccer in Europe," said Patrik Darabont, FIFA Agent at Tonbara Sports & Entertainment. "His ability to bounce back from a serious injury and lead Bellarmine to a conference championship — then transition directly to playing in Germany — shows the kind of competitor he is. We're excited to support his continued development abroad."

Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is a full-service athlete representation agency licensed across FIFA, FIBA, and PWHLPA, with offices in Toronto, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.
